The official Saudi Press Agency stated on Sunday that the Arab Coalition has intercepted and demolished an explosive drone launched by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi militia targeting Saudi Arabia’s Khamis Mushait that is a southwestern city home to the King Khalid Air Base.

The Coalition declared in a statement carried by SPA that the terrorist Houthi militia continues to target civilians and civilian infrastructure. We are taking operational measures to protect civilians and civilian infrastructures from terrorist attacks.

In fact, Yemen’s Houthis frequently launch drones and missiles towards Saudi Arabia, while Riyadh said that many of them have been intercepted.

The Coalition stated that Saudi Arabia’s air defenses intercepted and demolished eight explosive drones launched by Houthis and targeting civilian areas in the Kingdom. Indeed, one of the five drones targeted the southwestern city of Khamis Mushait, whereas a sixth drone targeted Najran.

Houthi drones targeted, previously this month, an oil refinery in Saudi Arabia‘s capital Riyadh, which induced a fire that was fortunately controlled, in what a Ministry of Energy official related, while it was not reported any wounds and the attack did not affect the oil supply or its byproducts.

Moreover, the Arab Coalition stated that on March 7, many drones and missiles had been interrupted when they are targeting an oil storage yard at Ras Tanura, the site of a refinery and the world’s biggest offshore oil-loading facility. Besides, a residential complex in Dhahran that used by Saudi Aramco was also attacked.
