Attempts to spoil it… Why Qatar and Iran are waiting for Biden’s visit to Saudi Arabia
The White House has shown great interest in the visit of the American President Joe Biden, to the Middle East region, starting from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to hold a summit including Egypt, Jordan, Israel, and some of the Gulf Cooperation Council states, in the middle of next July. The United States witnessed tremendous pressure to prevent the expected visit, as the misguided media launched attacks aimed at mobilizing the American public opinion to prevent Biden from his visit by reviving old crises between Saudi Arabia and the United States.
Lies of the naysayers
For his part, the Saudi Royal Court issued a statement confirming that American President Joe Biden will visit the country in the middle of next month, at the invitation of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to strengthen the historical bilateral relations and the strategic partnership between Washington and Riyadh. He added that Biden will meet during the visit with King Salman bin Abdulaziz and his Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and discuss the aspects of cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the United States, and ways to confront the challenges facing the region and the world.
This came at a time when many social media users and activists revealed, in tweets, attempts at stalling in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia following Biden’s visit. The Saudi political analyst, Fahad Deepaji, said that the United States and American President Joe Biden have recently known the value of Saudi Arabia in the region, pointing out that those who heard and were happy with Biden’s statements as he entered the White House around Saudi Arabia and its crown prince, and the files (Khashoggi, human rights, oil prices, the Yemen war) might be surprised and dismayed by Biden’s visit to Saudi Arabia.
Until the date of the visit, Qatar, Iran and other countries that refuse the visit may try to spread a lot of fake news and stories, said writer and analyst Abdul Jalil Saeed.
Kuwaiti political researcher Dr. Fahd Al-Shulaimi said: The important events and developments in the region have revealed much of the importance and status of Saudi Arabia, and since the announcement of the visit, they have caused panic in the hearts of many countries, especially Qatar and its ally Iran, fearing the US-Saudi rapprochement against threats and violations to national and international security and the peace that Qatar and Iran have always sought in the region.
Saudi-US relations, which are witnessing a rapprochement of views recently, provoked outrage from motivated parties to hinder this rapprochement, following the announcement of the visit.
Qatari-Iranian persistence
Informed sources revealed that Iran and its ally Qatar are leading a systematic campaign to hinder American efforts to repair relations with Saudi Arabia, which have been troubled since the murder of journalist and human rights activist Jamal Khashoggi in Turkey in 2018.
Despite the conclusion of an agreement on January 4, 2021 to end the diplomatic crisis with Qatar, the source stressed that Qatar has not complied with the terms of the agreement and continues to support terrorist groups with the aim of destabilizing and spreading extremism in the region, adding that the convergence of views between the Kingdom and the United States threatens Iran in the first place as well as its allies, especially the Qatari regime, which sees itself as the faithful dependant of the Mullahs regime.
