Avatar – James Cameron announces five episodes
Fans of Avatar and James Cameron can rejoice: they are not ready to leave the planet Pandora once they find it in December.
It’s been ten years since James Cameron has been monopolized by the sequel to his blockbuster Avatar. Episode II, Avatar: The Way of Water / The Way of Water, is expected in theaters at the end of the year, with Kate Winslett, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver in the lead roles. A third opus was shot simultaneously, as has been the practice since The Lord of the Rings. This episode is scheduled for release in 2024.
James Cameron already has material for a fourth Avatar, which he already describes as “a massacre”. “I really hope we can make it happen. But it will depend on the resources of the market” he notes. “The three is in the pipe so it will come out no matter what. Hopefully we can do a four and a five because it makes for a great saga” he assures.
However, the successful director and producer told the magazine Empire that he shouldn’t direct any more episodes beyond the third. “These films are exhausting” he justifies. “I have other equally exciting projects in development. I think I’m going to hand over to someone I trust. Or not. I haven’t decided yet”.
