Biden Opens Up About Suicide Attempt

President Joe Biden revealed one of the most difficult moments of his life during a surprise interview on Friday with host Howard Stern.

Appearing in the live interview during his visit to New York, Biden spoke about the painful moments he experienced after the death of his first wife, Neilia, and his daughter Naomi, “13 months old,” in a car accident, indicating that he had contemplated suicide.

He said that when the shock hit him, he began to have thoughts of suicide, either by jumping off a mountain or even from the Delaware Bridge.

He added that when contemplating suicide, it doesn’t necessarily mean one is crazy to do it, encouraging individuals in shock to seek treatment quickly, referring to the therapeutic support he received to overcome his crisis.

He admitted to considering turning to alcohol to cope with the shock, a painful impact he has not fully overcome yet, saying “I would sit there and I’d just think: I’ll take out a bottle of whiskey… I’ll drink it and get drunk, that’s all.”

The interview surprised many as it was not scheduled in Biden‘s public agenda, as he spent Thursday night in New York after attending a fundraiser hosted by actor Michael Douglas in Westchester County.
