Death of a Worker and Poisoning of 180 Others Due to “Mass Poisoning” in Iran

Iranian sources announced on Wednesday the death of a worker and the poisoning of 180 others at the “Kavian” petrochemical complex in Assaluyeh, southern Iran.

The Iranian news agency ILNA reported that the workers were poisoned after consuming contaminated meals, with 10 of them still receiving treatment in the hospital.

The agency quoted one of the affected workers as saying they had eaten eggs for breakfast that day and then began experiencing symptoms such as fever, chills, and vomiting.

He added that around 180 workers were subsequently transferred to medical centers in Jam and Kangan, as well as some medical facilities in the neighboring Fars province.

He further explained that the deceased worker, named Ramin Golestani, was admitted to the hospital in critical condition and suffered kidney failure on Friday before being pronounced dead.
