Destructive earthquake in China… Death toll rises in Qinghai
Local authorities announced that the death toll from the earthquake that struck northwestern China with a magnitude of 6.2 on the Richter scale has risen to 31 people in Qinghai.
As of 10:00 PM on Thursday, the disaster has resulted in 198 injuries in Qinghai, with 3 still missing, according to the Friday morning report from the New China News Agency (Xinhua).
According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, the earthquake occurred at 11:59 PM last Monday at a depth of about 10 kilometers, with its epicenter in the town of Yueguo, located about 8 kilometers from the seat of the Jiuzhi Autonomous County for the Bao’an, Dongxiang, and Salar ethnicities in Gansu Province.
By Wednesday morning last week, a total of 113 people were confirmed dead in Gansu.
