In the fourth suicide incident in Egypt this month, a woman in her 40s committed suicide under the wheels of a Cairo metro.
Sameh Samaan, an eyewitness to the incident, said that passengers at the Ain Shams metro station in northern Cairo were surprised by the woman throwing herself in front of the metro train when it entered the station. No one was able to prevent her from being torn to pieces.
According to the eyewitness, train traffic stopped for some time to retrieve the body of the deceased from the security forces, civil defense forces, station officials, and the ambulance facility that arrived at the scene.
Last Friday, a young Egyptian commits suicide, by throwing himself into the Damiat branch of the Nile River from the Talkha bridge in Mansoura, Dakheliya province, North of Cairo.
Two weeks before the young man’s incident, Egypt witnessed the suicide of a female dentistry student who jumped from the 6th floor of the Mall Citystars in Nasr, East Cairo, due to family problems. The second suicide was that of an elderly man who threw himself under the wheels of the Cairo metro at Maadi station, South of the capital.
In a previous statement, the Egyptian Public Prosecution Office demanded searching for the reasons and trying to raise a strong generation capable of facing the circumstances.
