Those sharing the image highlighted the “body language” exhibited between Sisi and Erdogan during their meeting, reflecting warmth and cordiality in their conversation, as reported by CNN network.
In response to the photo, the Egyptian presidential spokesperson, Ahmed Fahmy, affirmed in media statements on MBC Egypt that “the meeting between el-Sisi and Erdogan took place in a fraternal and friendly atmosphere. The relationship between Egypt and Turkey is evolving, and both sides are keen on continuing steps that would lead to the complete restoration of various aspects of cooperation and the activation of the framework of bilateral cooperation.”
Fahmy added that “the meeting between el-Sisi and Erdogan witnessed discussions on ways to increase and maximize bilateral relations, building upon the tangible progress observed in Egyptian-Turkish relations.”
The first official meeting between Egyptian President Abdul Fattah el-Sisi and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan took place in September last year on the sidelines of the G20 summit in New Delhi, following a decade-long strain in relations.
Relations between Egypt and Turkey became strained after Egyptian President Abdul Fattah el-Sisi assumed office in 2013, following the ousting of the late Muslim Brotherhood President, Mohamed Morsi, who Ankara notably supported.
