Entering a decisive phase: Israel’s defense minister reveals developments in the war against Iran
Israel’s defense minister announced that the war has entered a “decisive phase,” referring to the expansion of military operations and the continuation of strikes against Iranian targets, amid warnings about the potential widening of the conflict in the region.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Saturday that the war being waged by Israel and the United States against Iran is witnessing rapid escalation, emphasizing that the confrontation has entered a “decisive phase” that will continue as long as necessary.
During a situation assessment, Katz explained that the regional and international confrontation against Iran “is intensifying and entering a decisive stage,” noting that it is taking place within the framework of an alliance led by the United States and Israel.
He added that this stage represents a pivotal moment in the conflict, stating: “We are entering the decisive phase of the battle, between the attempts of the Iranian regime to remain in power despite the increasing suffering it causes the Iranian people, and its surrender.”
The Israeli defense minister further stated that ending this confrontation, in his view, “can only be achieved if the Iranian people move to overthrow the regime.”
Praise for a U.S. strike
In the same context, Katz praised a strike that he said the U.S. military carried out overnight against an Iranian oil island, describing it as an “appropriate response” to what he called Iran’s attempts to mine the Strait of Hormuz and pressure the international community.
He added that the Israeli Air Force continues to carry out “a wave of powerful attacks” in the Iranian capital, Tehran, as well as in other areas inside Iran, as part of the ongoing military operations.
These statements come at a time when the conflict between Israel and Iran is experiencing rapid military escalation, with successive airstrikes and retaliatory attacks raising growing concerns that the war could expand into a broader regional confrontation involving international actors.
