European Cities Record a Record High in Temperature
The Kautokeino weather station in Norway recorded a temperature of minus 43.5 degrees Celsius in the early hours of Friday. This is the lowest temperature recorded in 25 years, according to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, as reported by the “NTB” news agency.
Temperatures dropped even further in northern Sweden, where a temperature of minus 43.8 was recorded at the Naimakka weather station in the northernmost part of the country.
This was the coldest night in January since 1999, and frozen weather is expected to persist throughout the weekend in both countries.
Norwegian news reports mention that the central Oslo station will remain open to provide shelter for the homeless. The newspaper “Avisa Oslo” stated that this measure will remain in effect as long as weather conditions necessitate preventing sleeping outdoors.
