“Expo Dubai” accompanies visitors on a journey through time that will link the past with the future


Expo 2020 Dubai unveiled details of the captivating visitor’s experience in Mobility Wing A. The experience will take visitors on a journey through time and space to explore human interaction and the movement of goods, ideas and data, which has become more complex than ever.

To shed light on the story of global navigation in immersive and inspirational ways, the pavilion embodies the vital role of the United Arab Emirates and the Arab world in the human renaissance through a journey that showcases all that is relevant to navigation, from ancient discoveries to the Emirates Mars Exploration Project.

The visitor’s experience begins 4,500 years ago in the Dubai desert, specifically in the Saruq al-Hadid region, which at the time enjoyed strong and wide relations throughout the Gulf region, the Levant and western Asia. After that, visitors will be invited to board the world’s largest elevator, which will take them on a trip to the House of Wisdom in Baghdad in the ninth century AD.

Visitors will then gather at a seemingly vivid nine-meter high monument to figures from the golden age of Arab civilization, including navigator Ibn Majid and the traveler Ibn Battuta, in recognition of their contributions to global mobility over the centuries. History media stories use these to explore the concept of mobility, its power and its widespread impact, as well as to highlight innovations from the Arab region that have spurred development in human exploration and mobility.

From there, the experience will move forward over time into the twenty-first century, ushering in a virtual world full of data, before moving to the city of the future, where visitors get a glimpse of the future of mobility in the years and decades to come.

The visitor’s experience is closely linked to the story of the Emirate of Dubai and the UAE’s pioneering role in connecting and connecting across the globe. Visitors will also get a glimpse of the tremendous progress the UAE has made in the past 50 years in areas related to mobility, such as aviation and logistics, and smart cities. The UAE’s national space program and the UAE’s project to explore Mars, “The Hope Probe”, will also expand space science.
