Five ways to naturally boost your immunity
As autumn has set in, minor colds and other viruses are resurfacing. To avoid getting sick, boost your immunity naturally with these five ways.
1. Eat well
It may seem obvious, but it is essential to eat a balanced diet to have good immunity. Say goodbye to crisps, candy and processed foods that contain refined ingredients and are high in salt and saturated fat. Opt for fresh foods and diversify your food. It is in this diversity of foods that the body draws its strength. Alcohol and cigarettes are of course to be banned.
2. Stock up on vitamins and minerals
To boost the immune system, vitamins C, D and E are very important. You can therefore increase your consumption of vegetables and fruits rich in these different vitamins, such as peppers, oranges, lemons, acerola or even sea buckthorn berries. Certain mineral salts are also essential, such as zinc (found in oysters, organ meats, red meat, wholemeal bread and eggs) and magnesium (in cocoa, nuts, whole grains, seafood and oily fish).
3. Get enough sleep
Rest is essential for good immunity. You must sleep at least 7 hours a day to feel good. Sleep allows you to resist stress and fatigue and therefore strengthen your natural defences. In the evening, promote sleep with a little reading and avoid screens. Go to bed early and, if you have the chance, take a 20-minute nap in the middle of the day.
4. Exercise
Practicing regular physical activity is not only good for preventing cardiovascular diseases but also for maintaining good immunity. It’s also very good for morale! Choose a sport that you like and that lets you off steam. However, be careful not to overdo it! If you’re not a sports fan, learn breathing techniques that will help you release stress, an oxidant for the body.
5. Use essential oils
For adults and children over 6 years old, certain essential oils are particularly indicated for strengthening our natural defences: essential oil of Ravintsara, Thyme with thujanol, Tea Tree or even Eucalyptus radiata. To know the synergies, it is best to contact a specialist. Propolis, a bee product, can also work wonders for your immunity.
