Germany launches campaign against ‘caliphate’

German authorities carried out a raid on Tuesday against members of the banned ‘Caliphate State’ organization.

The Mayence investigative authorities said that the campaign was carried out at 6 a.m. under the leadership of the local anti-crime bureau in Rheinland-Pfalz (Mayence State), where three people were arrested and 47 search warrants were executed.

The investigating authorities explained that the case involved a total of 41 persons suspected of contravening the ban on the association.

The Caliphate State, led by Istanbul-based Metin Kaplan, is a group calling for the restoration of what they call the ‘Islamic Caliphate State’.

According to investigators, members of the group are calling for the establishment of an ‘Islamic State that rejects democratic principles and principles relating to the rule of law’.

The investigating authorities accuse these persons of inciting the preservation of the organizational cohesion of the uncontested ‘State of the Caliphate’ association, through participation as members or the dissemination of propaganda material to the association by non-members.
