Horrific fall of a woman into a deep valley due to a “selfie”

Rescue teams in India managed to retrieve a 29-year-old woman after she fell into a 30-meter deep valley due to her desire to take a selfie.

According to “The Independent,” the horrific incident occurred last Saturday in the “Purani Ghat” area of Maharashtra state, near the “Thoseghar” waterfalls, which were closed due to heavy rainfall. Details show that the woman was with a group of friends when she fell from the edge of the cliff while taking photos.

The police received a report of the incident, prompting the rescue teams to rush to the scene, deploying a team from the National Guard to extract her and transport her to the hospital, where her condition was declared stable.

This incident comes two weeks after a woman died in a similar accident near the “Kumbhi” waterfall, where she fell from a height of 100 meters while filming a video for her Instagram page.

Reports indicate that India has recorded the highest number of selfie-related deaths, followed by the United States and Russia.

Between 2008 and 2021, 379 selfie-related deaths were recorded globally, according to a study published in the Journal of Travel Medicine.
