How the Muslim Brotherhood Serves Netanyahu Under the Guise of Solidarity with Gaza

Libyan academic and researcher Dr. Jibril Al-Obaidi has accused the Muslim Brotherhood—whom he refers to as the “Brotherhood of Israel”—of exploiting the Palestinian cause for political gain and using it as a tool to settle scores with their opponents, particularly Egypt. He claims that recent protests led by Brotherhood members holding Israeli citizenship in front of the Egyptian embassy in Tel Aviv expose the moral inconsistency and political deviation of the group.

In an article published in Asharq Al-Awsat, Al-Obaidi writes:
“The tragic irony lies in how members of the international Muslim Brotherhood, under the protection of Israeli police, staged demonstrations against Egypt, allegedly calling for the lifting of the Gaza blockade, while blatantly ignoring the true party enforcing the siege and bombing the territory. It is a clear case of political and intellectual schizophrenia.”

He explains that such actions are part of a deliberate campaign to divert attention away from the crimes committed by the Israeli government. The Brotherhood, he asserts, is working to “relieve the pressure on Netanyahu,” accusing them of “political betrayal” and of manipulating public opinion through misinformation.

Al-Obaidi identifies Mansour Abbas, leader of the United Arab List (Ra’am), as a key figure among the “Brotherhood of Israel.” Abbas formed an alliance with Israel’s far-right and helped bring Naftali Bennett to power. Al-Obaidi questions: “What principles guide a movement that joins the very governments of the occupiers while raising slogans in support of Palestine?”

He contends that the Brotherhood has adopted political deceit and blatant falsehoods, systematically spreading false information and mobilizing online troll networks as part of its longstanding strategy of public deception.

Al-Obaidi adds:
“Israeli Muslim Brotherhood members like Mansour Abbas and his colleague Walid Taha are now Knesset members who criticize Egypt—a country that shed blood for the Palestinian cause—while openly supporting Netanyahu without any red lines.”

He also recalls the Brotherhood’s protests in Libya, where they welcomed Bernard-Henri Lévy, one of the foremost advocates of Western intervention in the region:
“They are the same people who lifted Lévy on their shoulders and claimed that Gaddafi was Jewish, in a hysterical scene that reflects their political and moral bankruptcy.”

Al-Obaidi concludes by emphasizing that the Brotherhood is “neither a religious group nor a national political party,” but rather a transnational organization that does not recognize national borders and instead subscribes to the geography of their supreme guide and a fictional caliphate. He describes them as “bankrupt in both politics and ethics.”
