Humanitarian Gesture from King Mohammed VI for the Benefit of Palestinian Students

Morocco Allocates 100 New Scholarships for Palestinian Students from Gaza Studying in the Kingdom

King Mohammed VI, who heads the Jerusalem Committee, directed the allocation of additional grants for Palestinian students studying in Morocco. This humanitarian gesture adds to the various initiatives launched by Morocco since the outbreak of the war in Gaza, reflecting its consistent stance in actively supporting the Palestinian cause, beyond political rhetoric.

The Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a post on its official Facebook page today, Wednesday, reported that “King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Jerusalem Committee, has given instructions to allocate additional grants for the benefit of Palestinian students within the framework of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation.”

It further stated that “the number of these grants is around 100, benefiting Palestinian students from Gaza registered in universities and higher institutes across various regions of the kingdom.”

The ministry added, “This royal initiative is part of the generous and continuous care that King Mohammed VI extends to the just and entrenched Palestinian cause, showing genuine solidarity with the Palestinian people during these difficult circumstances.”

It concluded by stating that “these grants are to be immediately made available to Palestinian students who meet the necessary conditions, in coordination with the Palestinian Authority.”

Morocco has been at the forefront of sending humanitarian aid to Gaza, condemning civilian targeting and emphasizing its approach to the Palestinian issue based on dialogue, compliance with international legitimacy decisions, and the two-state solution principle.

Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita confirmed during a meeting of Arab foreign ministers in Cairo in October that the kingdom is ready to engage in any international effort aimed at realizing the aspirations of the Palestinian people in establishing their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Bourita emphasized his country’s readiness to coordinate with all partners to work towards ending the catastrophic conditions in the Palestinian territories, which are suffering under Israeli bombardment.

Under the supervision of King Mohammed VI, the Jerusalem Fund managed to implement a package of housing, health, education, and social projects for the benefit of the residents of Jerusalem in recent years, improving living conditions for a percentage of the city’s population.

On the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People on November 29, King Mohammed VI highlighted the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the continued targeting of civilians, urging the international community and particularly the effective powers and the Security Council, as the UN mechanism responsible for maintaining world security, to unite and speak with one voice for a decisive and binding resolution to immediately cease fire and respect international law and humanitarian law.

He emphasized the kingdom’s vision that “peace is a strategic choice for the peoples of the region, the only way to ensure security and stability for all its peoples, protecting them from the vortex of violence and wars.” He added that this peace, sought by all, is based on the two-state solution, as the realistic solution agreed upon by the international community and can only be achieved through the negotiation process.
