Bourita: Peace agreements add momentum to regional security

Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita said that the peace agreements with Israel have given momentum to the security of the region.

This came during a virtual meeting between the representatives of the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco, the United States and Israel to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the signing of the Abraham Agreements.

Bourita valued the role of the United States in its sponsorship of the Abrahamic Conventions.

He said that the Abrahamic agreements have opened channels of communication for investors and businessmen among the signatories.

“Re-establishing contact with Israel was very important, and we still face challenges,” he said. One million Israeli tourists are expected in Morocco.

He added: “We believe that there is no alternative solution to the two-state solution, while preserving the status of Jerusalem for its symbolism and importance.”

He continued: “We have to reassess the situation in the region and look for opportunities to achieve stability.”

On September 15, 2020, the world awoke to a White House park marked by the signing of a peace deal that marked a historic moment.

An Emirati-Israeli peace announced on August 13, 2020, before it was signed at the White House, on September 15 of the same year, amid a remarkable international presence.

Since the signing of the Abraham Agreement, the peace train has passed through important milestones and has made record achievements in a short period of time.

The achievements that culminate in accelerated efforts to implement the historic peace treaty on the ground reflect a sincere desire for cooperation between the two sides to contribute to the advancement of the region and the strengthening of relations between peoples.

With its courageous and historic decision, the UAE has succeeded in halting Israel’s annexation of Palestinian territory, saving 30 per cent of the Palestinian territories and more than 100,000 Palestinians who were subject to expulsion, ending six years of stalemate, and maintaining hope of a Palestinian state.

The UAE also opened the door for Arabs to expand the horizons of stability, as Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco joined the Peace Train. They confirmed the correctness of the UAE’s view that the language of the dialog can succeed to achieve what the dry and boycott contracts did not achieve.
