Instagram Introduces a Long-Awaited Feature

The platform Instagram, owned by Meta, is testing a new feature called “Unseen Story Highlights,” which allows users to view their friends’ missed content, according to Indian Express.

A recent report from TechCrunch revealed that these highlights come from the user’s followers and appear in a separate section at the end of the story tray, located at the top of the app.

For those wondering, the “Unseen Story Highlights” section will not display stories from friends that disappear after 24 hours. Instead, it will feature highlights: curated lists of stories saved by users to their profiles.

With Instagram being flooded with random Reels, the new functionality is beneficial as it provides a quick way to catch up on the latest updates from friends.

However, the feature will only appear after all stories have been viewed, meaning it might never be seen if you follow a large number of people and never reach the end of the story tray.
