iPhone 15 Pro with a Chip Full of Promises

The A17 Pro of the iPhone 15 Pro, the highly anticipated first-ever 3nm chip in history,. brings technological improvements to all internal components (CPU, GPU, NPU).

This chip is primarily used to facilitate the addition of power-hungry features (such as ray-tracing) and larger image sensors.

The new chip for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, called the A17 Pro (a departure from the “Bionic” chips Apple has been using since 2017). holds great promise.

It is the first in the history of the semiconductor industry to be manufactured using the 3nm process, allowing the iPhone to claim unprecedented capabilities.

It boasts the world’s finest and most powerful manufacturing process, with all lithography processes now using extreme ultraviolet (EUV) technology. This manufacturing method ensures the highest transistor density in the industry. Apple has packed a whopping 19 billion transistors into its precious chip – three billion more than the previous chip. This flood of logic gates should enable it to gain a significant advantage over the competition. both in terms of power and energy consumption.

The arrival of the first 3nm chip in a smartphone did not come with new promises from Apple regarding battery life improvements.

The chip is 20% faster than the previous one in traditional rasterization tasks (traditional 3D rendering). and it also incorporates new rendering technologies. including the highly acclaimed ray-tracing.
