Iran as a potential haven for the Muslim Brotherhood if they leave Qatar.. How?

Iran stands as one of the main options and havens for the leaders of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood organization if regional and international pressures push them to leave Doha, given the long-standing relationships between the Muslim Brotherhood and Iran since the 1950s, according to a recent study.

Salim Mohammed Al-Zaanoun, the author of the study published by the Rawabet Center for Strategic Research and Studies, stated that the organization might develop a “preemptive plan” to handle a potential scenario where Doha decides to expel its leaders and members, aiming to prevent a state of chaos and confusion within the organization.

In such plans, actions are carried out according to a system of phases and priorities, with the highest priority in the first phase being the departure of known leaders, followed by the evacuation of individuals listed on terrorist lists announced by the three countries and Egypt in the second phase, as reported by Ammon News Agency citing the study.

The study revealed the main criteria for potential havens for the Muslim Brotherhood, summarized into three main criteria: the willingness of potential havens (countries) to host the leaders and cadres of the organization despite their terrorist labeling and related institutions, the scope of political, economic, social, and media activities for the organization in the new havens without security prosecutions, and the strength of the relationship between the new havens (countries) and the countries that classify the organization as terrorist, specifically the three Gulf countries and Egypt.

The international organization of the Muslim Brotherhood has managed to establish a vast network of research and think tanks, media, civil society institutions, and legally recognized charitable and missionary associations worldwide, using them as a cover for political, economic, social, media, and organizational activities.

These centers are concentrated in all European countries, particularly the United Kingdom, France, as well as in the United States, Pakistan, Malaysia, and South Africa. These countries may accept the cadres of the organization personally (as individuals) and not as an organization, and will not allow the organization to manage its activities from their territories for two reasons: preserving their relationships with the three Gulf countries and Egypt, and securing their internal front.

The Muslim Brotherhood maintains close relations with some countries as well as with Islamic parties affiliated with the Brotherhood that play an influential role in their governments. In this context, Turkey, Tunisia, and Iran emerge as potential havens to host the Muslim Brotherhood as an organization, providing them with an environment conducive to working freely in all fields, according to the agency.

The study concluded by emphasizing that “in any case, the potential havens lack the privileges that the Muslim Brotherhood organization receives during its stay in Qatar, in terms of generous financial support, complete freedom of movement at all levels, and a secure environment. The organization may move to one of the new havens, but it will lose some of the privileges available in Doha.”
