Iran – Mass demonstrations in universities call for the expulsion of the mullahs
Many Iranian universities witnessed large-scale demonstrations and student marches on Saturday to condemn the political and economic conditions in the country. Demonstrators demanded that Iranian security forces stop suppressing the protests that have taken place in the country for two weeks. They also demanded the release of prisoners and detainees.
In this context, students of Shiraz University, in south-western Iran, joined the universities’ strike and organized a gathering, today, Saturday, October 1st, on the campus, and they chanted in their protest march, “Jealous student, we want your support.”
Students at the Free University of Mashhad, in north-eastern Iran, joined the university strike and chanted before security forces, “You dishonored.. You dishonored,” after they tried to end their protests.
Videos sent to Iran International show that students at Zanjan University joined protests across Iran on Saturday chanting “Women, Life and Freedom”.
Students of the Free University of Tehran Faculty of Medicine began their protests on Saturday morning and stressed that the protests would continue until their legitimate demands were met.
According to videos received from Iran, the markets of Sanandaj, Marivan and Baneh in the Iranian Kurdistan Province, Ourmia, Bukan, Naqadeh, Piranshahr and Oshnaviyeh in the West Azarbaijan Province, witnessed general strikes to condemn the Iranian regime’s missile attacks on the positions of the Kurdish parties in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.
A group of bus drivers and employees at the Tehran Capital Transport Company said in a statement that they would join the general strikes in response to the security authorities’ crackdown on protesters.
