Iraqi President: The national security services should carry out their duties in fighting terrorism


Iraq President Barham Salih appealed the national security services to do their duties in fighting terrorism, like ceasing ISIS from infiltrating Iraqi territories. Salih gather with the Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army, First Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Yarallah, and they discussed security developments in the country.

Salih affirmed the necessity to support the state’s authority and its security agencies to better apply the law, protect citizens, and improve the capabilities of security forces. On his part, Yarallah informed the President on the recent military actions against ISIS.

Three military commanders were suspended

In the meantime, Iraqi Interior Minister Othman al-Ghanimi stopped three military commanders of the Arar border guard forces for not doing their duties during a recent terrorist assault.

Besides, the Ministry issued a video presenting an ISIS assault at the Arar crossing, on the border with Saudi Arabia, in which the terrorists attacked with fire the border patrol of the Fifth Brigade of the Third Regiment.

Moreover, a source at the ministry clarified that the terrorists controlled al-Abyad police station, and took communications equipment and a vehicle, and also weapons. The Iraqi security forces are seeking to secure Kirkuk and Diyala after a series of ISIS assaults during the last period.
