Israel announces the killing of a Hezbollah commander: the logistics support chief
The Israeli army announced on Wednesday that it had killed the head of logistics support for Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement in the Qana sector.
According to a statement released by the Israeli military, “Hussein Ali Taameh, the logistics support officer for Hezbollah’s Qana sector, was targeted and eliminated in an airstrike conducted in mid-October.”
The statement added that “during the war, Taameh was responsible for transferring military equipment to rebuild Hezbollah’s operational capabilities in the area, in clear violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon.”
Israel has repeatedly carried out strikes in Lebanon, claiming they target Hezbollah operatives, despite the ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024 following more than a year of hostilities that included two months of open warfare between Israel and the group.
Under U.S. pressure and amid fears of escalating Israeli attacks, the Lebanese government ordered its army last month to prepare a plan to disarm Hezbollah.
The Lebanese army has been given three months to complete the disarmament process in the southern part of the country, near the Israeli border.
In mid-September, Foreign Minister Youssef Rajhi told Agence France-Presse that the army’s plan, presented to the government, calls for completing Hezbollah’s disarmament in the southern border region within three months.
