Jabalia under Fire and Siege… and the “Ridwaan” Unit Bleeds in Lebanon

Jabalia in Gaza remains under fire and siege, while the “Ridwaan” unit of Hezbollah in Lebanon “bleeds” with the addition of a new leader to the list of casualties.

In Jabalia, a city located in the northern Gaza Strip, the Israeli army continues its operations there, stating that it has “eliminated dozens of terrorists.”

A local resident told AFP: “The northern Gaza Strip is witnessing a military operation, and there are citizens under the rubble and others on the roads whose fate we do not know yet.”

In a statement issued yesterday, Thursday, the civil defense confirmed that the number of casualties from the ongoing Israeli military operation, which has lasted for 19 days, has risen to at least 770 people.

Since October 6, the Israeli army has been conducting an aerial and ground operation in the northern Gaza Strip, focusing on the Jabalia area and its surroundings.

The army stated that the objective of the operation is to prevent Hamas militants from regrouping and repositioning.

Jabalia Under Siege

On Thursday, the Israeli army announced that Chief of Staff Herzl Halevi had toured Jabalia on Wednesday, informing his troops that the operation contributes to achieving the objectives of the Israeli war.

Halevi said, “Jabalia is falling, this is another psychological collapse for Hamas,” following the killing of its leader, Yahya Sinwar, on October 16 in the southern Rafah area.

He added, “This pressure brings us closer to achieving more successes.”

The army has steadily expanded its operation, and an airstrike carried out by warplanes on a residential area in Beit Lahia resulted in the deaths of at least 73 people.

The army reiterated its orders for residents to evacuate the area, where checkpoints it controls are spread out.

Images from the checkpoints showed large crowds of Palestinians waiting to pass through those barriers reinforced by the presence of tanks.

Palestinians reported mistreatment or detention and arrests during their attempts to exit.

According to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), 400,000 people remain in the northern Gaza Strip, including in the city of Gaza.

Additionally, tens of thousands have been displaced from northern areas subjected to intensive Israeli operations, most of them moving to the city of Gaza, according to the same source.

The Israeli authority responsible for managing civilian affairs in the Palestinian territories (COGAT) states that 250,000 people remain in northern Gaza.

For its part, Washington has pressured Israel to allow more aid into the northern strip, considering that the amounts arriving are “insufficient.”

However, Israeli officials denied accusations that Tel Aviv is implementing a plan to starve northern Gaza.

In Beit Lahia, Israeli forces raided Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza on Friday.

Hezbollah “Bleeds”

On the northern front in Lebanon, things do not appear to be any calmer, as Israeli airstrikes continue to target Hezbollah strongholds.

On the same day, the Israeli army announced the killing of a new leader from the “Ridwaan” unit of the party.

It stated: “We managed to kill Abbas Adnan Muslim, the commander of the Aitaroun area in the Ridwaan unit of Hezbollah,” this unit being one of the party’s elite forces.

On the night of Thursday to Friday, new Israeli airstrikes targeted Lebanon, resulting in the deaths of three journalists, according to the Lebanese National News Agency.

The agency reported that the three journalists were killed “in an enemy raid targeting their residence in Hasbaya,” adding that “the enemy aircraft attacked at 3:30 AM on the Lebanese-Syrian border.”

According to local media, the airstrike hit a hotel in Hasbaya, located about 50 kilometers south of Beirut.

On Friday, the Israeli army reported detecting the launch of five rockets from southern Lebanon toward Haifa, confirming that some fell in open areas.
