Kais Saied vows to cleanse Tunisia of those who tampered with it for years

Tunisian President Kais Saied said on Friday that the state “will not be a true state of law if the judicial function in it becomes dysfunctional.”

He also affirmed his firm intention to “cleanse the country of those who tampered with it over the years”, according to a statement from the Tunisian presidency, referring to the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist organization that controlled the governments that followed the events of 2011 since the overthrow of former Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

Kais Saied and Leïla Jaffel, minister of justice, met at the Carthage Palace on Friday.

The meeting dealt with the functioning of the public judicial facility in general and the role assigned to judges in the application of the law to everyone on an equal footing, without any other considerations.

The meeting also discussed the need to speed up the implementation of the decree related to penal reconciliation so that people can return their money.

After the July 25, 2021, measures were taken, the Tunisian president launched a war against corruption to cleanse the country of the clutches of brotherhood, terrorism, theft, and looting.
