Magnitude 4 Earthquake Strikes New Delhi

A 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck New Delhi on Monday morning, with its epicenter located on the outskirts of the Indian capital.

There were no immediate reports of significant damage, but frightened residents rushed out of buildings, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the earthquake occurred at 5:36 AM (00:06 GMT), just before sunrise, with a depth of only 10 kilometers.

The police posted on social media: “We hope you are all safe.”

A helpline number was provided for emergency assistance if needed.
