Muslim Brotherhood and Zionism: Why Britain Supports Them

The writer and intellectual Helmi Al-Namnam, former Minister of Culture, compared the terrorist organization of the Muslim Brotherhood to Zionism, arguing that it plays the same functional role in the Arab region, though under a different guise.

In an interview with Al-Hayat TV, Al-Namnam stressed that the Brotherhood has no genuine project for construction or development. Their mission, he noted, has always been confined to destruction and subversion. He pointed out that since its founding by Hassan Al-Banna, the group has emerged as an anarchic movement whose primary goal was to dismantle nation-states, according to Al-Watan newspaper.

Al-Namnam revealed that wherever the Brotherhood has taken root – whether in Egypt, the Gulf, or Sudan – it has carried out the same destructive mission.

He gave the example of Sudan, where the Brotherhood ruled between 1989 and 2019, leaving behind what he described as a “catastrophic model.” Their rule culminated in a humanitarian tragedy that, according to international reports, claimed the lives of more than 180,000 people, in addition to unprecedented human and environmental disasters, including the burial of entire villages in Darfur.

The writer and thinker also shed light on the hidden ties between British colonialism and the Muslim Brotherhood, affirming that London played a central role in establishing the group with the purpose of weakening the Egyptian national movement and paving the way for the Zionist project in the region, particularly through the implementation of the Balfour Declaration in Palestine.

Al-Namnam explained that the Brotherhood has remained loyal to the goals originally assigned to it by British colonialism, and that it is not merely an American tool, as some claim. He further emphasized that the Brotherhood’s investments in London are worth billions of pounds sterling, which explains Britain’s eagerness to maintain its protection of the group and its unwillingness to abandon them, as reported by Al-Youm Al-Sabea.
