Natanz under fire again: escalation targeting Iran’s nuclear program
Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reported that a new attack targeted the uranium enrichment complex in Natanz, as part of the ongoing military escalation between Iran on one side and the United States and Israel on the other.
According to the agency, the strike hit the “Ahmadi Roshan” complex, noting that it follows a series of previous attacks targeting sites inside Iran.
Iranian authorities considered the attack a “violation of international laws and obligations,” including the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, as well as regulations related to nuclear safety and security.
These statements come amid rising tensions surrounding Iran’s nuclear program, which remains a central axe of the current conflict.
Technical assessments of site safety
In the aftermath of the attack, relevant Iranian authorities conducted technical assessments to verify the possibility of a radioactive leak inside the facility.
The Nuclear Safety System Center reported that no radioactive leakage had been detected, affirming that the situation is under control and poses no risk to residents in surrounding areas.
Escalation targeting nuclear infrastructure
The targeting of the Natanz facility is part of a series of focused strikes on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, aimed at weakening Tehran’s enrichment capabilities.
