New Terrorist Attack in Pakistan: Casualties and Injuries

Pakistani police and other officials revealed that at least 24 people were killed, and over 40 others injured in a bomb explosion at a railway station in Quetta, southwest Pakistan, on Saturday.

Balochistan Police Inspector General Moazzam Jah Ansari told Reuters that 24 people had died as a result of the explosion so far.

He added, “The target was military personnel from the infantry school,” noting that several of the wounded are in critical condition.

Police Operations Chief Muhammad Baloch stated that the explosion appeared to be a suicide bombing and that investigations are underway to gather more information.

He added, “The explosion occurred inside the railway station as the express train bound for Peshawar was about to depart.”

No group has claimed responsibility for the explosion at Quetta’s main railway station.

In August, at least 73 people were killed in Balochistan province after separatist militants attacked police stations, railway lines, and highways.
