Yemen – Houthi rebels continue their attacks on the health system
The Houthi militia has continued its crimes against the Yemeni people, targeting the health system in an attempt to prolong the war and inflict high costs on citizens.
Observers believe the Houthi militia’s attempts to weaken the Yemeni government’s infrastructure and increase the people’s financial burden.
Houthi plans
Houthi militia is hitting the health system in a killing to prolong the war and destroy state institutions.
The Houthis are punishing the people for rejecting them by increasing the cost of their lives and making them unable even to afford their treatment – the most basic human right for anyone.
With the start of the war, the Houthi militia stole all hospital resources and allocations and funded a large portion of medical centers as treatment centers for its fighters.
The militia left millions of people untreated; the health sector has deteriorated and medical services have collapsed.
The Iranian-backed militias are stealing the salaries of medical personnel.
Public anger
The doctors are extremely angry at Houthi practices, and are ready to hold a protest to denounce Houthi strikes on and destruction of the health sector.
The pro-Houthi leader Abdulmalik Jehaf has transferred the ownership of hospitals to militias and the rights and salaries of staff and doctors have been confiscated.
According to international organizations, Houthi practices come at a time when militias have been warned about poor health conditions.
International organizations have said that the Houthi militia has caused its war and the chaos it has created, including a major shortage of water and treatment; this threatens to exacerbate the already existing humanitarian crisis.
