New UAE Aid for Sudanese Displaced People… A Balm to Heal the Wounds of Hardship

In search of comforting the distressed and alleviating the afflicted, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) enacts its foreign policy and translates its humanitarian principles.

A new humanitarian mission is inscribed in the UAE’s humanitarian record this time, with the aid announced today, Tuesday, by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for the Sudanese displaced people forced to leave their homes due to the ongoing conflicts in their country.

In an effort to alleviate human suffering and meet their urgent needs, the UAE’s support comes as an initiative that embodies the values of generosity and solidarity firmly entrenched in the nation.

Beneficiary Categories

The support provided through the “Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives” includes food items, medical supplies, and tents, benefiting the most affected groups.

In this regard, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid emphasized the depth of the bilateral relations between the peoples of the UAE and Sudan, and the cultural and civilizational ties that unite them.

He stated, “The UAE stands by all Arab brethren, always extending a helping hand in times of hardship, expressing its noble humanitarian values.”

The aid reflects the UAE’s commitment since its establishment to making humanitarian and developmental support an integral part of its foreign relations.

For years, the UAE has topped the global list of major donors in the field of development assistance in proportion to its national income.

The humanitarian message of the UAE is also embodied through the ninth principle of the “Fifty Principles,” which affirmed the ethical constants in the state’s humanitarian work.

After the outbreak of the crisis in Sudan between the army and the Rapid Support Forces on the fifteenth of last month, the UAE pledged to provide $50 million in emergency humanitarian aid to Sudan, in a renewed stance of its humanitarian leadership

Moreover, its humanitarian bridges have not stopped in evacuating Arab and foreign nationals from Sudan, a step that reflects its global cooperation and solidarity, embodying its approach of providing protection to civilians and extending a helping hand to countries in times of need.

Healing Initiatives

Without discrimination based on gender, race, or religion, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives seeks to achieve humanitarian goals and objectives for the people of the region and the world.

These initiatives focus on the least fortunate individuals and families, as well as refugees, displaced people, and those affected by crises.

It is worth mentioning that the “Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives” was established in 2015, and represents a supporting umbrella for a group of initiatives and institutions launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid.

Today, it encompasses dozens of initiatives and institutions that implement charitable and humanitarian programs under five main pillars:

Humanitarian and Relief Aid

Healthcare and Disease Prevention

Knowledge and Education Dissemination

Future Innovation and Leadership

Empowering Communities in Support of Institutional Humanitarian Work
