Nigeria Suffered the Most from ISIS Terrorism in 2022

Nigeria topped the list of countries most vulnerable to Daesh terrorism in 2022.

ISIS has admitted to killing and injuring 6,681 people in 2058 attacks it launched around the world in 2022.

According to the ISIS-affiliated news agency Amaq, Nigeria topped the list with 517 attacks carried out by the terrorist group, killing and wounding 1,412 people, while Iraq came second with 484 attacks that killed and wounded 833.

Syria came third in terms of attacks with 297 resulting in 887 deaths and injuries, followed by Afghanistan, which suffered 181 attacks last year in which 1,188 people were killed and wounded.

According to these statistics, in 2022, ISIS carried out attacks in 22 countries, with Nigeria ranking the most attacked and the most victims and Afghanistan the second most.

ISIS’s Khorasan branch is active in Afghanistan, and such activities have increased since the Taliban came to power in mid-2021 and the withdrawal of US and foreign troops who had been pursuing those militant groups in Afghanistan.

Washington earlier said 686 ISIS fighters had been killed in Syria and Iraq in operations by its forces and allies in 2022.
