The most recent incident was the murder of opposition figure Nouf al-Muadhid in the past few hours.
Al-Muadhid is the last victim of the al-Hamdain regime
This followed news of her death, with reports received by the Gulf Center for Human Rights confirming the death of Qatari human rights defender Nouf Al-Muadhid after her return from Britain.
Qatar bears responsibility
The rights group blamed all Qatari authorities for abandoning their promise to protect the life-threatening activist before she returns to Qatar.
It said that the fate of Nouf could not be verified by the Qatari government, which is following a policy of silence on the issue.
The Gulf Center for Human Rights has also called on all international organizations, including the United Nations, to put pressure on the Qatari authorities. To reveal Nouf’s fate and provide evidence that she has already died.
The revelation of Nouf’s death came as human rights groups raised demands for Qatari authorities to show proof of the activist’s life, amid growing fears she could be killed or arrested.
She has faced many problems in her life, which she has been talking about on her own social media pages.
“Her problem was caused by her wealthy family, who treated her violently, who pressured her to leave the house, and after she arrived in Britain, she applied for asylum, which she withdrew before her last return”.
Khaled Ibrahim, head of the Gulf Center for Human Rights, an organization that tracks human rights violations in the Middle East, said: “The Qatari government can easily prove to the international community that they are alive … but they have no proof, and this is a source of concern for us?”
Ibrahim added: What we know for certain is that she is in imminent danger at the moment, she has been killed or arrested, no doubt.
The center had previously confirmed the death of the Qatari activist, weeks after she returned home and abandoned her request for asylum in Britain.
He accused the Qatari authorities of “abandoning their own assurances to al-Muadhid that she will enjoy protection upon her return, noting that as a result of these assurances, al-Muadhid canceled her request for political asylum in Britain and returned to Qatar on the condition that she stays in a hotel under the supervision of the authorities”.
Rights claims
Human rights groups have also called on the Qatari authorities to show proof of the activist’s life, amid growing fears she could be killed or arrested.
The British newspaper, The Guardian, reported that al-Muadhid was still missing since mid-October after her return to Qatar.
The newspaper said the activist left Qatar two years ago and documented her escape via social media sites, following alleged assassination attempts.
She returned to Qatar a few weeks ago after being reassured and safe by the Qatari authorities.
“She tweeted in early October that her father had entered the hotel and that her life was in danger, following three previous attempts to kill her by members of her family”, the British newspaper said.
On October 12, the newspaper continued, she tweeted: Sheikh Tamim is the only one capable of preventing danger to my life.
In an earlier statement, al-Muadhid told the rights group: “I was only allowed to go to school and return.. I was beaten and brutalized”.
