Personal pen of Hitler for sale… and this is its price
A silver-coated pencil belonging to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler is on auction sale this June amid expectations that it will sell for between $75,000 and $100,000.
According to the British newspaper Guardian, the pen is believed to have been a gift to the Nazi leader from his partner Eva Braun, on his 52nd birthday, on 20 April 1941.
The pencil, purchased by an collector at an auction in 2002, has a German-language inscription ending in Eva, and is marked “A” and “H”, in reference to Adolf Hitler.
The planned auction in Belfast will include the sale of other historic artifacts, such as an original handwritten picture of Hitler, and a handwritten amnesty from Queen Victoria of 1869 for Irish rebels convicted of treason.
Auction house managing director Carl Bennett said he expects worldwide attention.
He continued: “The importance of Hitler’s personal pencil lies in the fact that it helps uncover a hidden part of history, and gives a unique insight into Hitler’s personal relationships, which he carefully concealed from the eyes of his followers.”
Bennett said that careful discussion with the pen salesman about where to get the pen “gave me confidence that the pen really belonged to Hitler.”
