Popular Unrest against the Muslim Brotherhood Escalates in Wadi Hadhramaut

Efforts to resolve the crisis surrounding the killing of Saudi soldiers in the city of Seiyun, located in Hadhramaut province, by a member of militias affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, have failed.

A source informed Al-Amn newspaper that the case has become more complicated due to the failure to hand over the suspect involved in the murder of Saudi soldiers to the joint committee and competent authorities. No concrete steps have been taken by the leadership of the First Military Region in this regard.

Political sources have described this incident as a security tension point between Yemeni military forces suspected of allegiance to the Houthi and Muslim Brotherhood groups and Saudi Arabia, further complicating the situation in the region.

Pressure is expected to mount on the Yemeni government to fulfill its commitments, especially amidst growing popular demands in Hadhramaut for the perpetrators to be brought to justice and for the forces of the First Military Region to be relocated from Seiyun to Ma’rib, as stipulated in the Riyadh Agreement.

According to informed sources, the leadership of the First Military Region, affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, refused to hand over the accused soldier to the competent authorities, claiming that further internal investigations were needed before taking any other steps.
This incident has sparked widespread anger among the population of Hadhramaut. Protests erupted in Seiyun, demanding the immediate handover of the accused soldier to justice and the prosecution of all members of the First Military Region involved in acts of murder and repression against the people of Wadi and the entire Hadhramaut province.

Diplomatic sources revealed that Saudi authorities expressed their dissatisfaction with how the First Military Region’s leadership handled the case. Riyadh is closely monitoring the situation and is calling for decisive measures to prevent similar incidents from undermining cooperation and security stability in Wadi Hadhramaut.

Amid these developments, several human rights activists and community leaders highlighted that the heinous crimes committed by the First Military Region forces, who occupy Wadi and the Hadhramaut desert, against the region’s inhabitants will not be forgotten. They emphasized that assassinations have targeted civilians, military personnel, and security officers alike.

Using the hashtag “Freeing Wadi is a Hadhrami Demand,” they condemned the collusion between the Muslim Brotherhood’s terrorist militias and the Houthi militias supported by Iran, aimed at destabilizing the province and the south in general.

They also affirmed that the majority of First Military Region members are loyal to the Iranian Houthi militias, as evidenced by the recent targeting of members of the Arab Coalition, followed by the perpetrator’s escape to areas under Houthi control.
