President of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council: No negotiations with Ethiopia before recognizing Sudanese Sovereignty on Al-Fashaqa
President of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan declared that there are no negotiations with Ethiopia before that Addis Ababa formally recognizes Sudanese sovereignty on the Al-Fashaqa area and defines the border.
Burhan, during a visit to establishments in the Omdurman military zone, appealed on Wednesday Ethiopia to remove its forces from all Sudanese territory.
Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Mohamed Osman al-Hussein, the inspector general, the director of the Medical Services Department, Chief of Karary University, Chief of Military Intelligence, and other senior officials were participated in the visit with Burhan.
Burhan affirmed: Unless there is an acknowledgment by the Ethiopian side that these lands are Sudanese and signs have been placed, we will not negotiate with anyone.
He also promised that the armed forces would still the real protector of the people and the revolution, affirming its full commitment to respect popular choices, expressing his ambitions to keep Sudan’s unity, and also promising to coordinate with civilian political forces and peace partners, adding that the country’s transitional phase has gone through enormous challenges that necessitated making many concessions and sacrifices.
President of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council also called the armed groups that didn’t sign the peace deal to negotiate for reaching an agreement that would help creating a modern state.
Otherwise, Sudan’s transitional government deployed forces on the border lines with Ethiopia, to protect agricultural areas in al-Fashaqa.
Noting that Ethiopia and Sudan share a joint border of about 1600 km that was demarcated via many accords between Ethiopia and the colonial powers of Britain and Italy. Until now, this border has not been clearly defined.
