Second round of Tunisia elections: Rescue train reaches its final stop
The second round of legislative elections in Tunisia represents the final stage in the process of saving the country from the terrorist Brotherhood, which began on July 25, 2021.
This phase was preceded by the dissolution of the Judiciary Council and the Parliament, the enactment of legislation by presidential decree, and the adoption of a new constitution by referendum on July 25, 2022.
A new republic was established on all its bases to reach the high altitude, as described by Tunisian President Kais Saied, after opening a new page in the history of Tunisia, without the Brothers who corrupted and infiltrated the country.
The second round of legislative elections is scheduled for January 29th. The first round was held on December 17th and witnessed a 11.22% turnout.
Observers of the Tunisian political scene believe that with this election, the dreams of the Brotherhood to return will evaporate once again in order to further destroy the country.
The next parliament consists of three political forces, all of which affirm their support for the political process led by the Tunisian president since July 25, 2021.
These rising forces, accompanied by independents, form the next Tunisian parliament that will be free of Brotherhood parties and their allies.
These forces are Zouhair Maghzaoui’s National People’s Movement, the anti-Brotherhood “Let the People Win” initiative, and the “July 25 Movement,” a popular extension of the July 25 trajectory.
The three powers together won 13 of the 23 seats decided in the first round of early legislative elections, and have more than 105 candidates competing in the second round of the remaining 131 seats.
Heading Intensively to Elections
Mohammed Ali Bougdiri, a member of the “Let the People Win” initiative, called on all Tunisians to go to the polls on Sunday to cast their votes.
“The next parliament will be pure, fair, and contrary to the former Muslim Brotherhood parliament,” he said. “It will not be governed by lobbies or bought from MPs for the sake of enacting legal texts and legislations that serve the interests of those who pay most.”
Bougdiri warned of the dangers of what he described as “apostasy” forces working to derail the July 25 route.
“Work will be done through a bloc so the people can triumph in the next parliament to resolve social and economic problems for the sake of the Tunisian state,” he said.
The People’s Triumph initiative, which was founded last October, is fielding 61 candidates for the second round of legislative elections.
Meanwhile, Mahmoud Ben Mabrouk, spokesman for the July 25 Movement, called for massive participation in the second round of elections.
“Participation in the elections aims to counter the efforts of the July 24 Brotherhood and allied parties to obstruct the process and reverse course,” he said.
He stressed that the Tunisian president is “committed to the roadmap that he announced and is committed to completing the course,” stressing that “the July 25 Movement is aligned behind the interest of the nation and the people, and its commitment to defend the country’s institutions.”
“The Movement won 10 seats during the first round of the legislative elections,” Ben Mabrouk said, adding that 80 Movement candidates will participate in the second round of the elections.
“He explained that the Movement represents the political belt that protects the July 25 March, and the official supporter of the Tunisian president so that he can save the country.”
Out of 9,136,502 voters, 7,853,445 are eligible for the second round of elections (in 131 constituencies).
