Sudan: Demonstrations and clashes in many areas of Khartoum

The Sudanese street is witnessing a state of unrest and numerous crises in light of the large demonstrations that are taking place in the political arena in Sudan, where Sudanese demonstrators in several areas, continued their escalations and demanded civil rule; At the same time, it was announced that 10 people were killed in protests on Thursday, in which thousands participated in more than 30 cities.

Bloody events

Sudan’s many areas have seen heavy deployment of security forces, armored vehicles, and police and military vehicles; thousands rallied in the south, east, north and west of the capital, while the United Nations and the African Union condemned the violence in Sudan and expressed disappointment over the violence and lack of accountability in Sudan.

In a statement on the bloody events that took place in the country, the Sudanese police said that the demonstrations were characterized by violence and tried to reach sovereign and strategic areas, confirming that there are violent groups working in a suicidal way that attacked police and military vehicles, clarifying that 96 policemen and 129 soldiers from the army were seriously injured as a result of the violence of the demonstrators.

Dialog and negotiations

Ibrahim Othman, a Sudanese journalist writer, says that the current demonstrations are not clear-cut in objectives, which is what made the state of unrest and the increasing violence in the Sudanese street, during the current hours, because there is no clear vision for the civil and military components to sit at the dialog table and discuss the issues that are getting Sudan out of its current crisis.

The Sudanese writer added that there are parties that seek Sudan to be in such situations between continuous political and economic crises and disturbances, which causes these ongoing demonstrations and violence, pointing out that the solution is through real negotiation procedures for the greater interest of Sudan.

The Tripartite Mechanism condemned what it called the excessive use of Sudanese security forces in the 30 June protests, the restriction of the Internet and mobile phone in violation of freedom of expression, as well as measures to stop the violence and reduce arbitrary arrests and detentions.
