Syrian army takes control of the country’s largest oil field
Syrian army forces have taken control of the country’s largest oil field.
Three security sources said on Sunday that Syrian forces, which are engaged in clashes with Kurdish-led forces, seized control of the Al-Omar oil field, the largest in Syria, as well as the Conoco gas field in the eastern part of the country.

This development comes as the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) blew up two main bridges over the Euphrates River in Raqqa province in northern Syria, according to the official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) on Sunday, shortly after the Syrian army announced it had taken control of the strategic city of Tabqa in the Raqqa countryside and the adjacent Euphrates Dam, where Kurdish forces had been deployed.

The official Syrian news agency reported, citing the Raqqa Governorate’s Information Directorate, that “the SDF organization blew up the new bridge (Al-Rashid) in the city of Raqqa.”
The agency had previously stated that Kurdish fighters had blown up “the old bridge spanning the Euphrates River in Raqqa, leading to the destruction of the water pipelines running across it.”
