The UAE is healing the wounds of Gaza residents by providing Starlink and the floating hospital services

The UAE intends to introduce the Starlink internet service from SpaceX in its field hospital in the Gaza Strip to provide direct medical consultations via video for patients in the besieged territory.

Enhancing Medical Services

According to the international magazine “The National,” the use of Elon Musk‘s high-tech satellite system could assist healthcare specialists in delivering vital care in Gaza, which has experienced communication disruptions since the start of Israeli attacks on October 7.

Frequent power outages have also hindered efforts to coordinate aid desperately needed by the Palestinian population facing a worsening humanitarian crisis.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the UAE is working with international partners to provide advanced technology in the facility, which houses 150 beds, including Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Boston Children’s Hospital, and the Cleveland Clinic in the United States.

The ministry emphasized the importance of providing reliable high-speed internet service to support medical care.

How Does the UAE Field Hospital in Gaza Treat Palestinian Wounded?

The magazine explained that the field hospital was established in December to help alleviate the significant strain on healthcare services in Gaza due to the conflict now entering its fifth month.

It further noted that over 3,500 patients have already been treated at the hospital, which is used for general surgery, orthopedic surgery, and provides anesthesia and intensive care for both children and adults, as well as internal medicine, dentistry, family medicine, and psychological therapy.

It is operated with support from the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, and the Emirates Red Crescent.

Last week, a floating hospital with 100 beds sailed from the UAE to provide medical support to Palestinian patients affected by the war in Gaza.

The redesigned ship, which carries 100 medical and administrative staff, will remain anchored off the coast of the Egyptian city of Arish to support relief efforts in Gaza.

The hospital includes operating rooms, intensive care facilities, a laboratory, pharmacy, and medical storage facilities.

The massive ship, which sailed from Khalifa Port, also includes a plane, an evacuation boat, and fully equipped ambulances to transport patients.

A Lifeline

Additional medical support is a vital lifeline as the war intensifies, with the death toll in Gaza exceeding 28,500 and over 68,000 injured.

Satellite internet is a practical option compared to regular internet services. For instance, to access the internet using 5G networks or any broadband connection, the device must be within range of a cell tower.

The closer the user is to the cell tower, the better and faster the connection. By using a satellite, you can access the internet even in remote areas.
