Turned into a Skeleton… American woman found chained to a tree in India
An American woman was found in a terrible state after being chained to a tree and left to die in a forest in India.
According to NDTV, 50-year-old Lalita Kay was discovered chained in a dense forest in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra state, after a shepherd heard her groans and called for help on Saturday night.
In a chilling message, the American woman claimed her husband left her to die there without food for 40 days.
A circulated video shows the woman receiving medical care, looking skeletal, suffering from numerous health issues, unable to speak. She took a pen and wrote her message to explain her situation.
Despite her weakness, she managed to write a note in English, saying she “spent 40 days without food in the forest after her husband tied her to a tree with an iron chain.”
Authorities believe the woman – who also wrote about suffering from “severe psychosis” – has mental health issues.
However, the police have opened an investigation into a potential attempted murder by her estranged husband, whose identity has not been disclosed.
The police are also trying to verify the woman’s claims that her former husband is indeed responsible for what happened to her, and suggest that a quarrel between the woman and her ex-husband led to this outcome.

Police also found the woman’s American passport and an expired visa, indicating she had been residing in India for 10 years, without it being clear where she came from in the United States.
According to investigations, the woman came to India at the time to learn yoga, and fell in love with her instructor, who later became her husband, before ending up chaining her to the tree.
Police had to cut down the tree and break the lock that bound the woman.
