Two pilots killed after military helicopter crashes in North of India
Two pilots have been killed after a military helicopter crashed in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said Tuesday.
The two pilots were badly injured in the incident in the Batentep area and were evacuated to the nearest medical facility but later died of their wounds, Defense Ministry spokesman Dinder Anand told reporters.
Pictures on social media showed a crashed helicopter on a hill and locals trying to get the pilots out.
Local media reports said that the helicopter crashed due to poor visibility due to fog conditions, but an investigation would be opened to determine the cause of the accident.
Federal Minister Jitendra Singh offered his condolences to the families of the victims.
This is the second helicopter crash in recent weeks in Jammu and Kashmir.
