U.S. State Reports 3 Possible Human Cases of Bird Flu
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stated that the state of Colorado reported three possible cases of H5 bird flu among individuals working in poultry farming.
The CDC added in a statement: “There are no signs of an unexpected increase in flu activity elsewhere in Colorado or in other states affected by the H5 strain of bird flu among cattle and poultry.”
They reported that the three individuals are experiencing mild symptoms. The statement mentioned that the infection occurred among workers who were culling infected birds at a poultry facility where the H5 strain of bird flu had spread, according to Reuters.
The CDC clarified that the risk to the general public remains low and that they will send a team to Colorado to support the investigation.
They indicated that the three workers were exposed to the virus through handling infected birds.
