UAE condemns Kandahar mosque bombing: We reject terrorism
The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned the bombing of a mosque in the Afghan city of Kandahar, which caused a number of deaths and injuries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation affirmed that the United Arab Emirates expresses its strong condemnation of these criminal acts and its permanent rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism that are contrary to humanitarian values and principles.
The Ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the victims of this heinous crime and wished a speedy recovery to all the injured.
At least 62 people were killed and dozens injured in a blast that targeted a mosque in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar during Friday prayers.
The blast caused a large number of casualties, said Qari Saeed Khosti, a spokesman for the Iraqi Interior Ministry.
The authorities are collecting details about the blast, which occurred just days after ISIS claimed responsibility for an explosion at another Shia mosque in the northern city of Kondoz that killed dozens, he said.
Medical sources revealed that the number of victims of the explosion rose to at least 62 dead and 68 injured.
A Taliban official said Friday that a suicide bomber struck a Shia mosque in Kandahar city.
