UAE supports Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Field Hospital in Rif Dimachq

In continuation of the huge UAE support to all countries of the world, especially brotherly Arab countries that are suffering from numerous crises, the United Arab Emirates has once again extended a helping hand to Syria in the field of medical support by opening a field hospital.

The Syrian Ministry of Health opened the field hospital of Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed, near the conference palace in the Damascus countryside, with a capacity of 135 beds, of which 40 are care beds.

Syrian Minister of Health Dr. Hassan al-Ghabbash told reporters that the choice of the hospital’s location and its opening covered the al-Ghouta area and large geographical areas in the Damascus countryside, with a population of about one million.

Al-Ghabbash added that the opening of the hospital was supported by the UAE Red Crescent Authority “within the framework of the humanitarian response to the Covid-19 pandemic and its effects, which is proof of the strong and historical brotherly relations between the two leaderships and peoples in the two countries.”

He said the hospital has all the necessary medical equipment, such as radiology equipment, a pivotal layer and a competitor to provide proper medical service, in addition to a number of other departments, such as the laboratory with all its facilities and the intensive care unit.

Syrian websites and newspapers celebrated the UAE’s overwhelming support for the country, saying the aid comes in more than one level, including support in the medical sector. The Ministry of Health has provided several aids including vaccines against the coronavirus and other medical equipment over the past two years.

It praised the UAE’s position with the Syrian regime, especially after the visit of Bashar Al-Assad to the UAE on March 18, the first since 2011, noting that the UAE was the second largest Arab investor in Syria before the outbreak of the Syrian revolution in 2011, with a total investment estimated at $20 billion.
