This comes amid warnings from authorities about enormous waves that could reach the east coast of the United States by Sunday.
The center, based in Miami, added that the hurricane is located about 2,655 kilometers southwest of the Azores, with maximum sustained winds of 215 kilometers per hour, according to Reuters.
The United States is experiencing a series of hurricanes, with at least 200 people killed as a result of Hurricane “Helene,” which swept through several southeastern states.

According to U.S. official sources on Thursday, the hurricane caused widespread devastation, particularly in North Carolina, where more than half of the victims were reported.
A tally by Agence France-Presse, based on official figures, recorded 201 deaths in the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and Virginia.
This has made “Helene” the second deadliest hurricane on the U.S. mainland in over half a century, after Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
