What is the stance of the Sudanese Muslim Brotherhood on the Addis Ababa Declaration?
The Muslim Brotherhood rejected any efforts or initiatives to end the internal conflict in Sudan between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, which is expanding day by day, as the Islamic movement succeeded in involving many tribes in the war.
The Sudanese Islamic movement sharply criticized the political declaration signed between the Coordination of Democratic Civil Forces (Taqadum) led by Abdallah Hamdok and the Rapid Support Forces led by Lieutenant General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemeti) in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa. The movement stated that the declaration was sealed with the blood of the Sudanese people.
In a statement conveyed by the (Ultra Sudan) website, the Islamic movement mentioned, “At a time when the people of Sudan are suffering from the violations of the Rapid Support Forces militia and its persistence in humiliation, terrorism, rape, murder, destruction of facilities, roadblocks, and the infringement of rights, the leader of the rebel militia spews venom, accompanied by the rhythm of his priests and his audience of igniters of the sale of honor and hand-washers in blood,” according to the statement.
The statement accused the signatories of the political declaration on both sides of facilitating the Sudan’s separation. It described the civilian group that signed it as “dilapidated and bearing the skulls of innocent victims assassinated by treachery and the violation of their blood through the forces of the Dagalo family.”
The statement emphasized that the Islamic movement in Sudan still maintains its opinion that the war was planned by the leader of the “rebel militia” since April 2019 and he has continued to mobilize his forces for it.
The statement rejected the attempt by the Rapid Support Forces leader to involve the Secretary-General of the Islamic movement in the war and the false allegations against the movement.
The Muslim Brotherhood‘s statement in Sudan stated that they will remain “on their true position in history, supporting the army and the grieving people of Sudan as they seek refuge in search of security.” The statement added, “This is the position of the honorable in the trench of armed popular resistance that we applaud its launch, and we stand shoulder to shoulder with all the sons of Sudan, to eradicate this cancer spread in the tumors of militias and the remnants of the forces of freedom and change.”
The Coordination of Democratic Civil Forces (Taqadum) had signed the political declaration with the Rapid Support Forces led by Lieutenant General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo two days ago in Addis Ababa, following two days of meetings between the two parties.
The Democratic Civil Forces Coordination (Taqadum) states that it received preliminary approval from army leaders for a similar meeting and signing of the political declaration by the army as a step towards ending the war in Sudan.
