Why did the Houthis manipulate the oil tanker Safir?
The Yemeni government accused the Houthi terrorist militia of backing down for the fourth time from an agreement allowing a UN technical team to arrive and start its mission to evaluate and maintain the Safar oil .
The Houthi militia continues to dodge and manipulate the Safir file, which is anchored off Ras Isa port in al-Hodeidah, and is creating more obstacles, said Muammar al-Eryani, the government’s Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism.
Al-Eryani said the militia is using a ticking time bomb to blackmail the international community in order to achieve political and material gains without regard to the serious consequences of the tanker’s escape, sinking or explosion, which is putting Yemen, the region and the world at large in the face of an imminent environmental, economic and humanitarian catastrophe, the official Yemeni news agency reported.
The Yemeni official said that the Houthi militia uses the tanker as a tool of pressure, blackmail and bargaining in the face of the legitimate government, the region and the world, without any concern for the lives of Yemenis and the interests of Yemen, or the catastrophic consequences that will extend for decades to come. He wondered if the international community was aware of that?!.
