Wide Egyptian rejection of the European Parliament’s report on elections in Egypt: It serves the Muslim Brotherhood Agenda

There has been a state of political and popular rejection of the statement by the European Parliament regarding the upcoming presidential elections in Egypt, which several politicians and members of parliament have described as serving the agendas of the Muslim Brotherhood and terrorist groups in an attempt to undermine the Egyptian state’s image before the presidential elections and tarnish its reputation.

Lies and allegations

The Egyptian media figure Mustafa Bakry, a member of the Egyptian parliament, confirmed that the statement by the European Parliament, which is attempting to impose its conditions on Egypt, has offended the sentiments of Egyptians. It has been criticized by all political forces, Egyptian civil society organizations, and various segments of the Egyptian people.

Bakry added in his statement: The European Parliament’s statement is not the only one that attacks Egypt, fabricates justifications, and calls for sanctions. The US Congress preceded it, trying to pressure Egypt and targeting only President el-Sisi.

Mustafa Bakry continued: In the coming period, there are scenarios at play. Part of these scenarios is being planned by the Muslim Brotherhood, who are not concerned about whether the Egyptian presidential elections take place or not. They are not betting on the victory of any of the candidates, including the candidate who announced that he would bring the Brotherhood back into political action inside the country, despite the fact that the law classifies it as a terrorist group.

He added: What the Muslim Brotherhood want from these elections is an available opportunity to demonstrate their strength inside the country, using it as leverage to achieve their tactical goal, which is to end what they call their “new ordeal,” by securing the release of their leaders and members from prisons and reviving their group.

He continued: They want, through what they are doing now, whether by supporting a candidate or by targeting President el-Sisi with attacks, to claim that despite the security pursuit they have faced in previous years and the dismantling of their organizational structure, their group still has the ability to make a presence in an important Egyptian political event, which is the presidential elections. We must anticipate and take into consideration what they will do, and accept reconciliation with them, as has happened more than once in the history of their group, which spans nine decades.

He continued: Therefore, we must anticipate what they will do during these elections since their wheels started turning. They will do everything they can to demonstrate their strength and capabilities inside and outside the country, such as intensifying their media attack and mobilizing everyone who can help them in this regard, including those who have failed before. They may also resort to acts of rioting and violence.
