World End: Qatar Hits World Cup Fans with Destroyed Infrastructure and Dark Side
Football fans in Qatar looking to enjoy their day on what appears to be a top-rated beach in the country were disappointed to discover that the public swimming area is in fact a construction site, as a group of fans ventured onto a public beach in Doha, Qatar’s coastal capital, after seeing a four-star Google list of golden sands, crystal blue water and spectacular views of the city’s skyscrapers. But upon arrival, holidaymakers were shocked to see what appeared to be a scene from the movie “Zombie World’s End” – with unfinished construction projects, workers’ tents used as living quarters and littered rubbish everywhere.
Dark Image
If the group took a closer look at the latest reviews, they would have seen other frustrated beachgoers warn that the area is still under construction. Football fans today visited what is called the public beach after an online search for “free beaches in Doha”. The beach was reportedly listed as one of the best free public beaches in the region, but footage shared shows it is far from amazing.
“It looks like this is the public beach in Doha. It’s a site where some tents are built,” said John, 31, in the video. “It’s clearly like a tourist village they didn’t finish in time.”
The newspaper said that what is strange is that many of the reviews show that it is a wonderful beach, which means that Qatar is using fake electronic accounts to promote its bad tourist attractions and to beautify its image nothing more, as the footage shows lines of tents and construction equipment and some fairly complete buildings that have sound foundations but are empty from within, John said: “It’s like a war zone, it’s just like the end of the world of zombies, there’s no people, there are two tennis courts there but there’s no one around to use them.”
Poor infrastructure
According to the Daily Mail, travelers have admitted that the beach has a beautiful view of Pearl, an artificial island in Doha spanning nearly four square kilometers, but otherwise it has been seen as a disappointment. The beach is open to the public, but it appears to be primarily used as a tent site where workers gather. “There is a man sitting in the tent so obviously they live there,” John said as they wandered about the filthy sands. “There’s another one there,” he added. Some tents also contained smokestacks, suggesting they might be equipped with some kind of cooking facilities, as I saw the group of buses apparently carrying construction workers.
“We are seeing a labor and construction village everywhere,” John said, adding that such a scene confirms that Qatar was not yet ready to host the World Cup, its infrastructure is very bad, nothing is complete, unlike stadiums and hotels that hosted the participating teams.
